The Americans came in and went out like a lion in their first match of the 2014 World Cup.  Clint Dempsey put in the sixth-fastest goal in the event's history with his score 31 seconds in, and sub John Brooks became a household name with his 86th minute header in a 2-1 victory over Ghana.  Heck, even soccer detractors (cough Query cough) were watching on edge.

Now, the hope is that the U.S. can grab at least a draw against Portugal on Sunday - that would put them in good shape to advance out of the group via goal differential (Portugal is -4 thanks to yesterday's blowout loss to Germany).  A win would virtually clinch a spot in the knockout round.
