(Please excuse the pathetic headline)

Following a day where they brought two backups - Damjan Rudez and C.J. Miles - into the fold, the Pacers now have their eyes set on a starting point guard.  Marc Stein of ESPN reported earlier this morning that Indiana has engaged in talks with Phoenix about Goran Dragic:

Dragic, a Third Team All-NBA selection and the league's Most Improved Player this past season, averaged 20 points and 6 assists per game for the surprising Suns. The 28-year old will be a restricted free agent next season, and Phoenix are looking to extend RFA Eric Bledsoe to be the point guard of the future this summer.

You'd have to assume that any deal revolves around a potential sign-and-trade with Lance Stephenson.  Some have questioned whether George Hill, the Pacers' current starter, would be involved.  However, it's tough to see Phoenix being willing to pay Hill the remaining $24 million and three years on his deal just to be a backup.

UPDATE: Stein now reporting that the involvement with Phoenix could be a play to get Boston to jump in with Rajon Rondo:
