Despite ascending to NBA superstardom, Paul George is returning to the Slam Dunk Contest.  Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports tweeted earlier this afternoon that George would be a member of this year's field.  This is different because generally the event is for bit players or young up-and-comers.  Dwight Howard (2009) and Blake Griffin (2011) have been the only actual All-Stars to be a part of the last Slam Dunk Contests.

George participated in the event during his second season, when barely anyone outside of Indianapolis knew his name:

Apparently, the judges didn't like his glow-in-the-dark dunk. He finished third overall (out of four) in the voting.  Hopefully, we can see more dunks like this one:
