Due to injury issues, the Pacers were forced to move on from Rodney Stuckey earlier today, which freed up a roster spot. However, I don't think anyone thought that spot would be filled by the return of Lance Stephenson:
Indiana Pacers, Lance Stephenson agree to 3-year, $12 million deal, league sources tell ESPN. First two guaranteed. Team option on third.— Chris Haynes (@ChrisBHaynes) March 29, 2017
Lance's exit from Indiana wasn't pretty, as he turned down a five-year offer in favor of a shorter-term deal in Charlotte. That move was a disaster, as was his follow-up with the Clippers in Los Angeles, but it seemed that Stephenson had found a home in Memphis. The Grizzlies couldn't keep him, and he bounced around again to New Orleans (cut early this season after a groin injury) and Minnesota (a couple of ten-day contracts) before finally landing in Indiana.
$4M/per with only the first two years guaranteed is a cheap flier to take on Lance, and here's hoping his rocky tour around the league since leaving the Pacers humbled him into being a better teammate.
