Why Are You Going to the Brickyard?

The Brickyard 400 has seen a huge decline in attendance since the early days of the race in the mid-1990s, but that doesn't mean that everyone in Indianapolis is staying home. Even optimistic estimates only project Sunday's crowd to be in the 30,000-35,000 range, and you would expect a good chunk of that crowd to be locals.

Here are a few of the qualities (and there are only a few) that might keep fans coming back:

1) It’s the only time America’s most popular racing series - even with the decline in overall popularity over the last several years - is at the world’s greatest racecourse.

2) With many popular drivers like Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Jr. (after this year) going into retirement, there are new faces in the sport that fans want to see grow.

3) It’s still the second-biggest race at the Speedway, and some race fans in Indy probably feel like they have to support any event that happens there.

If you plan on being in attendance on Sunday, we want to know why. What still draws you to the Brickyard 400? Leave your take on the Fox Sports 97.5 Facebook page, and we'll open the phone lines to you later this afternoon beginning at 3p!
