Last night's 13-9 pillow fight between Houston and Cincinnati was just the latest in a long line of NFL primetime duds which date back to last season. It has many fans complaining about the product - something that would've been crazy to utter as little as 5-10 years ago. We saw embarrassing season-opening crows in Los Angeles and San Francisco last Sunday, and local TV ratings for several NFL teams (including here in Indy for the Colts) continue to slide.
So, is the NFL product struggling or did we just reach a plateau with the league's popularity? Here's this from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio last night:
Currently, college football is genuinely exciting far more often than pro football is. NFL needs to be concerned about that.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) September 15, 2017
