Colts Cut Vontae Davis

Vontae Davis has played his last game as a Colt. After a report he'd undergo season-ending surgery, the team announced they were outright releasing the veteran cornerback.

This brings an end to a week-long drama that started when Davis was mysteriously kept home for the team's trip to Houston. Davis' play on the field has declined this year, but not to the point where anyone thought he would be a healthy scratch. The Colts were adamant that the decision was "non-injury related", however in hindsight, it's obvious that injury at least played a factor.

Davis said yesterday "change is good" when speaking about his future, and sounded off about Chuck Pagano, so the team probably wasn't happy about it. As for the Colts, unless the league can prove that they intentionally fudged last week's injury report, they won't face any repercussions.
