Purdue has never been #1 in the Poll era, but with the rise of advanced metrics to evaluate teams, they're #1 in a couple of national rankings... including ESPN's.
BPI, or the Basketball Power Index, elevated the Boilermakers to the top spot after last night's resounding win over Wisconsin:
That means - wait for it, Purdue fans - the Boilers are also ESPN's favorite to win the National Championship (21% chance). Wow.
There's still a lot of basketball left, but as we've been saying on the show, Purdue absolutely looks like a serious contender.
