We started our conversation with Ohio State head basketball coach Chris Holtmann by asking him if he thought his Buckeyes would be in a February game for first place in the Big Ten when he took the job. He answered honestly ("Of course not!"), but that's exactly the position Ohio State is in as they head to #3 Purdue tomorrow night.
The former Butler coach, and likely Big Ten Coach of the Year, joined us this afternoon to talk about a variety of things, including:
- why he wasn't given a head coaching opportunity earlier
- trying to defend the Boilermakers
- leaving Butler this past summer and the process that went into it
- if he ever had contact with Indiana about their head coaching vacancy
- naming his dogs
