Chris McCain, one of the new defensive players brought in this offseason, is now having to defend himself as a battery charge surfaced this week.
Report: Colts' Chris McCain charged with misdemeanor battery https://t.co/6NoZmdQuer— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) June 5, 2018
The alleged incident, which McCain strongly denies, happened back in January when he was still with the Chargers. What's odd about this particular accusation is that McCain claims he doesn't even know the alleged victim, telling the IndyStar that he had "never heard of her". There's also a chance that the Colts, who signed the 26-year old last month, weren't aware of the pending charge.
Los Angeles originally tendered McCain as a restricted free agent - following his best season as a pro - before later rescinding that offer, so maybe they knew something he didn't. Chargers fans and media questioned the odd decision a few months ago.
The Colts will be McCain's fourth team in his fifth NFL season. He's appeared in 36 career games.
