If you were hoping for the Pacers to make a big splash in the first night of free agency, well, you didn’t get one.
The team instead focused on addding a much-needed shooter off the bench, and they hope they have one with Doug McDermott:
Doug McDermott has agreed to a three-year, $22M deal with Indiana, league source tells ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) July 1, 2018
The good? McDermott can shoot. He’s a career 40%+ shooter from deep, who nearly hit st a 50% clip in 26 games in Dallas last season.
The bad? He isn’t a good defender, and although he’s just 26 years old, it can’t be a good thing that four other teams (mostly bad teams, to be fair) have already given up on him.
