Drew Brees is the NFL's new all-time passing leader, and while we've spent a lot of time comparing him to other quarterbacks like Manning and Brady, what about NBA players?
Random, yes, but the topic was broached by Kacy Sager on Twitter and I thought it led to an interesting discussion: who would Drew Brees' NBA comparison be?
If Brady is Jordan, then Brees is LeBron.— Kacy Sager (@THESagerbomb) October 9, 2018
Valid counterarguments being made. I mean in terms of longevity/consistency later career when he should have started dropping off, constantly and quietly breaking records when you don't even realize he's doing it, and his impact on an entire community.— Kacy Sager (@THESagerbomb) October 9, 2018
I love the explanation about Brees's philanthropy in the last sentence, although I don't think Brees (zero MVPs) quite stacks up with someone like LeBron James. My comparison was Dirk Nowitzki, a top 20 all-time NBA player in his own right, who just happened to be overshadowed by guys like LeBron and Kobe.
I think Brees is Dirk. An all-time great who was under-appreciated and overshadowed by a couple of others in his era who were slightly above him. https://t.co/v76nBzpDrb— Derek Schultz (@Schultz975) October 9, 2018
