Brohm Responds to Louisville Rumors

The biggest story in college football over the weekend was Bobby Petrino's firing and Louisville and the Cardinals turning their sights to hometown hero Jeff Brohm. In his weekly press conference this morning, Brohm discussed the rampant speculation and didn't exactly douse the rumors:

Purdue has been very aggressive in trying to keep Brohm in West Lafayette, awarding him an extension after a hugely successful debut season. Their facilities have been upgraded over recent years and Athletic Director Mike Bobinksi has seemingly been much more inclined to spend and make the Boilermakers a big-time program, unlike his predecessor.

Money may not be an issue, but Brohm would hypothetically cost Louisville a ton of dough - and it's an athletic department that is already swimming in buyouts.

That doesn't even factor in the basketball program's tabs for Chris Mack's buyout at Xavier ($4 million) and potentially for Rick Pitino's lawsuit ($40 million).

Home is home, and that allure alone may be enough for UofL to pry Brohm away. But, given what he's built in his short time at Purdue and the current state of the two respective programs, both on and off-the-field, "home" may be the only rationale for taking the job at Louisville.
