Young Pass Rusher Set to Visit Colts Today

Aaron Lynch has shown some flashes in his brief NFL career, but the young pass rusher hasn't shown enough to stick anywhere. His search for a third NFL team in three years leads him to Indianapolis today where he'll have a visit with the Colts:

Lynch does have one random in-state tie - the native Floridian originally chose Brian Kelly and Notre Dame as a heralded recruit. However, after earning Freshman All-American honors in his lone season in South Bend (2011), he decided to transfer to South Florida to be closer to home.

A fifth-round selection in the 2014 Draft, Lynch spent four seasons in San Francisco and last season with the Bears, compiling a total of eighteen career sacks. He just turned 26 years old earlier this month and fits the profile of the type of free agent that Chris Ballard has targeted during his tenure here: young, unproven (or, in some cases, disappointing), but with potential.

If the Colts are going to sign him, you'd think it would have to happen today. Lynch has already been on visits in Oakland and Seattle this week, and the Bears reportedly haven't ruled out bringing him back for another season.
