Door Swings Open for Mike Conley Trade

There has long been speculation about the Pacers pursuing a trade for former Lawrence North star Mike Conley, but last night's Draft lottery results may have cemented his fate. The Grizzlies will pick second overall, which almost certainly means they'll take Ja Morant, leaving Conley without his starting job.

That has kicked the Conley-to-Indiana buzz into overdrive, with many Pacers fans split on how they feel about it:

Neither of the Pacers top two point guards - Darren Collison and Cory Joseph - are under contract for next season, and while the team loves Aaron Holiday's potential, they seem uncertain whether he's ready to be a starter in year two.

Conley turns 32 in October and is owed $67 million over the next two seasons, but is coming off a career-high 21.1 points per game season and seems capable of holding down the starting point guard job on a short-term basis. That said, the Pacers would likely have to part with some pieces (Sabonis? A pick?) in order to make this trade happen.
